In the class “Tools for Game Development,” taught by Marco Millán, the final project requires developing an NVIDIA Omniverse Connector– a plugin with a simple toolkit for users to sync information in between different applications– for the real-time virtual collaboration and simulation platform.
Students majoring in video game development engineering at the Universidad de Artes Digitales (UAD) in Guadalajara, Mexico dont simply find out about what enters into computer game engines, they create them from scratch.
Once their ports are integrated with Omniverse, students can use them to team up on computer game scenes, sharing modifications and making enhancements in real time.
” Creating an NVIDIA Omniverse Connector was included to our curriculum to give the trainees more tools that add value to their projects,” said Sam Prince, head of the scholastic board for game advancement engineering at UAD. “Students finish from our program with the capability to create custom-made video game engines, and utilizing a port permits these engines to interact with other scene structure applications like Omniverse Create.”
Splitting the Code to Collaborate

Diaz, who called Omniverse an “exceptional tool for group work,” said this port job taught him how to produce computer technology tools and approaches that he can apply to any application in the future, not simply video game engines.
In addition to video game design and advancement, UAD– established a years ago– houses digital arts departments such as animation, app advancement and audiovisual production.
After reading the example NVIDIA Connector paperwork, they utilized their C++ shows language skills to compile libraries and run tests on their code. When the ports were up and running, the students spent about a day incorporating their video game engines with Omniverse.
For Charreton, the project spurred a desire to additional develop his deal with Omniverse. He finished an Omniverse-based 3D game engine for his thesis project. And hes establishing a 2D engine to utilize for academic functions in the video game advancement classes hes teaching.
” The live synchronization function on Omniverse is wonderful,” said Cerda. “It has a great deal of potential to link both people and tools for lots of kinds of programs, which will considerably increase productivity.”
Over the next couple months, they added custom-made tools to their engines, loaded and conserved their computer game scenes onto the NVIDIA Omniverse platform and worked together on them in real time.
Making their port was gratifying but tough, according to Miguel Cerda, Roberto Charreton and Sergio Diaz– 3 recent UAD graduates who accomplished the job.

Charretons favorite part of his last task, in reality, was working with RTX technology.
Diaz remembers getting his first NVIDIA RTX card in his first year at UAD. “Before that, I could only play a couple of video games and primarily programmed in HTML or Windows formats,” he said. “With NVIDIA RTX GPUs, I can produce better graphics extremely quick.”
